Dredging Highlight - Mission Lake
The Mission Lake project is a joint venture between the state of Kansas, and the City of Horton to restore the lakes water storage capacity, by dredging 1 million yards of sediment. The dredging was started on October 12, 2009, and after a long cold winter dredging started again the second week of March 2010.

The new dredge “Spirit” is being used to pump the slurry 9000ft to the holding basin site. The dredge Spirit is also equipped with state of the art equipment including a nuclear density meter, magnetic flow meter, and a plc system that will control the complete dredging operation, by monitoring swing pressure, cutter pressure, velocity, and the density of the material flowing through the pipe. Dredge positioning is monitored by a Trimble GPS receivers sending information into Dredgepack software displayed in the cab. The most technically advanced dredge, and the addition of a highly skilled crew make it possible to still be on schedule after the extended winter.
